Bay Vue Methodist Women (BVMW) held their annual bake sale in Bay Vue parking lot by Hwy 87 on Saturday, March 15, 2025. Cakes, pies, cookies and myriad treats were available from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM or until all were sold. This major fundraiser for the year supports many of our outreach programs. These include monthly snacks for the Crenshaw and High Island School staffs, activities bags for children for Easter, VBS on the beach, Halloween Trunk or Treat and Advent season. BVMW also spearheaded drives for needed items for the Hospice Care Team along with funding the Samaritan Purse Christmas box drive, and our local Angel Tree for peninsula kids in need of Christmas gifts. There are too many more activities to list. I am a proud member, and president of BVMW and stay amazed at how much this small band of sisters is able to accomplish.
The happy work force of Linda and Marcel Elissalde, Dennis and Elaine Rolfing, Mary Ann and Tom Harrison, Elinor and Pat Tinsley, Sandi Covington, Marsha Fredenburg, Rita Moseley, Sherry Morgan set up and put out our confections on a beautiful day. All were thankful to the Man Upstairs for answering our good weather prayers. Gratitude also goes to a host of behind the scenes supremely talented bakers. Due to the beauty of social media and word of mouth customers arrived before 10:00 AM, and we were completely sold out and packing it up by 12:20 PM.
Locals, spring breakers and snowbirds flocked to buy these special well known treats on our glorious Crystal Beach day. First time customers were exposed to some confectionery marvels and our return customers were rewarded with their favorites being just as good, or even better, than before. Anchor items included the fabulous cakes made by Elaine Rolfing. She baked 11 creations including pre-sale orders. Elaine’s offerings were surrounded by so many other delectable items.
A great big thank you to everyone involved in making our annual bake sale a huge success, especially to all the shoppers, many of whom gave above and beyond the prices posted. Thank you to all the happy eaters that commented on our local facebook pages about how much they enjoyed our items. Thanks to Linda Elissalde for all these great photos of everyone, and a very special thank you to Shauna King for capturing the group photo at the end.
See you next year, same time and same place. By the way, a word to the wise: Come early for the best selections!
