February is the smallest month of the year with only 28 days. There are 29 in Leap Year, but it is still little. Ah, but it is a very special month with many unique celebrations. February is Black History Month. There are Groundhog Day, Super Bowl Sunday and Valentine’s Day. Lots of folk are given special recognition. National Fettuccine Alfredo Day and Margarita Day sound enticing. Inventor Thomas Edison’s birthday is recognized. Abraham Lincoln and George Washington were born in this auspicious month.
Speaking of birthdays – several members of Bay Vue Methodist Church were born under the signs of Aquarius or Pisces. Effervescent Elinor Tinsley starts the month and had several celebrations in her honor. Mr. Ronnie Clarkston, a most delightful gentleman, is followed by Linda Carole Elissalde who was born on February 14. (Some refer to the day as Valentine’s Day, but Linda’s friends know the 14th as Linda’s Birthday.) Lovely Lesley Kinkaid is up next, and talented winter guest Renee Bowers closed out the Bay Vue birthdays.
A special event this year was a joint birthday party for the whole Bay Vue Birthday crew. Over 30 folk gathered on the 14th at Tiki Bar and Grill to enjoy everyone’s happy day. Chris and crew had everything ready when folk began arriving at 11:30. Pastor Valeria Hudson graciously blessed the gathering. Server Amanda did a fantastic job taking attendees’ orders and hustling food and drink to everyone. That lady never slowed down. The cooks and bartender were great in creating tasty food and drink. Rita Moseley and Sandi Covington had the dessert table ready with prize winning homemade cakes. Birthday celebrants received copious quantities of cards and presents as folk went back for more slices of those cakes. What a wonderful, delicious, fun filled birthday celebration it was indeed!
Little old February certainly proves that, ”Good things come in small packages”.
