For the first time in a month of Sundays, I stayed home this past weekend. I didn’t think I could do it, but so happy I did. It’s been a rough week, workwise that is! More drama than necessary and lots of changes. Have you ever noticed the older you get; the harder changes are on you? Anyway, much-needed therapy to just stay put!
Thinking about the money I saved by staying home. I did go to The Big Store on Friday, but I only spent $20. Never, ever! I even questioned the cashier, so she started explaining about some of the things I purchased were on sale. Hey, no problem, I’ll take it!
Saturday, I gave Maezy a bath. She was beginning to smell a little “doggy,” if you know what I mean. The temp warmed up to the 50’s, so we went to the downstairs shower where she could have a hot shower. Still a bit chilly in the breeze, but she managed to dry off and I managed to get her brushed.
I’m trying to remember what else I accomplished. Oh yeah, stove and microwave cleaned, caught up on laundry and ironing pillowcases. Yes, pillowcases! I have this self-inflicted need to iron pillowcases. I thought I was the only one who still does that. NOT! At one of Dennis & Elaine’s summer bashes, I was talking to a friend, Cheryl. Don’t ask me how we got on that subject, but she does the same thing, she even irons the top part of the top sheet. I do too!
Talk about therapy. Ironing is almost as therapeutic as watering the garden plants. Which, if it wasn’t so cold, I’d be out there right now watering the plants on the deck.
Speaking of cold, we were going to go to Home Depot after mass Sunday morning, but after breakfast at ShyKatz, we changed our minds. Sunday was the perfect day to do practically absolutely nothing. One chore I promised myself was to switch the couches. I put the one we always sit on up against the windows and moved the other one over. This did require some vacuuming and straightening. No one will know but me, but that’s okay.
The rest of my weekend was spent finishing a novel by Elin Hilderbrand, Swan Song. I was reluctant to finish the book on the ferry, but upon arriving home, I checked my stash to discover I have another one to begin.
Life is good!
