For the past 25 years, the Annual Bike Drive has brought joy and happiness to children across the Bolivar Peninsula. Now operated by Texas Crab Festival Charities (TCFC) this cherished tradition continues to uplift the community, ensuring that the magic of the holiday season reaches even its youngest members. This year, the Bike Drive teamed up with Bolivar’s Angel Tree organization to bring the initiative to life. Chester Jourdan, TCFC Bike Drive Director, and Gerry Lang, Angel Tree Coordinator, led the charge in organizing the event, which distributed 47 brand-new bicycles and a handful of scooters to local families.
A partnership with Academy in Galveston made it possible to stretch the budget further, as the retailer generously offered discounts on the bikes and scooters. Meanwhile, The Eagles provided their facility for storage, creating a secure space for the event’s success.

The TCFC team was bolstered by the dedicated efforts of Chester, alongside TCFC Directors Gray Hays and Conrad Cooper. Their teamwork ensured that everything ran smoothly, culminating in a heartwarming distribution day. Last Friday, families arrived to pick up their bicycles and scooters, complete with helmets donated by Deputy Claus of Galveston County.
Thanks to the unwavering support of numerous donors and a generous grant from ENTERGY, dozens of children and their families will now enjoy a brighter holiday season. The event is a testament to the power of community, showing how neighbors can come together to make a meaningful difference.
The 25th Annual Bike Drive stands as a shining example of holiday cheer, spreading smiles and joy across the Bolivar Peninsula for yet another year.
