The Bolivar Peninsula Cultural Foundation is excited to present to you our annual Wine Tasting event on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. On event night you’ll still have a week of Mardi Gras to go, so you don’t have to worry about a wine drinking, red meat eating, dessert eating event. We have been blessed to hold our wine tasting for many different occasions at the beautiful Villa Oasis, most generous courtesy of Wayne and Vickie Mouton, but the only problem we incurred was having to limit our ticket sales to only 50 people and we had to turn down numerous people each year. With thoughts of selling, we did not even impose on the Moutons this year. Several of our members attended a wine tasting at Jose’s Cantina last February to “check out the competition” last year and were so impressed with the event Jose’s put on, but hated they didn’t have a bigger turnout. At that event we met Arnulfo Perez, Jose’s brother-in-law, who was the chief winemaker at Rowdy Creek Ranch Winery, the wines we tasted that evening. Fast forward to this year and all that has transpired since last February.
Last year we went to Jose, asking if the Cultural Foundation could put on our next wine tasting at his restaurant and use the wines from the Rowdy Creek Ranch Winery where Arnulfo was currently the winemaker but Jose told us that his brother-in-law was planning on opening his own winery after spending many years making award winning wines for other vineyards and wineries and to wait for that to happen so that Arnulfo would be able to reap the benefits for himself. We were happy to hear that Arnulfo and his family are owners and winemakers of the Un Sueno Vineyards in Pittsburg, Texas. As a good reporter, I did my homework on him and Arnulfo is indeed not just Jose’s brother-in-law. If you Google Arnulfo Perez-winemaker, you will find that this man is known in the Texas winemaking world as an enthusiastic, innovative winemaker who loves what he does and loves everything about the art and science of making wine in the state of Texas.
Please join us on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, beginning at 5:30 PM to enjoy some of the wines Un Sueno Vineyards are making and spend an evening enjoying the great parings that Jose’s will prepare for each of them along with enjoying the company of good friends and great door prizes. It’s a chance to wear your Mardi Gras sparkles and sparkle with us. Tickets are $30 each for BPCF members and $40 for non-members. Although we will be able to have quite a few more than our 50 tickets, we are limited to 100 people and so final sale date is Saturday, February 15, 2025. you may contact Elinor Tinsley at 713-256-3447. Please leave a text or phone message if your call is not answered at that time, to purchase your tickets by cash, check or Venmo and if you pay by Venmo, we will hold your tickets at the door so no need to pick them up. We hope to see you there!!
